> SOCIAL STAFF TAKE TO THE STREETS IN ALLOWANCE ROW

SOCIAL care staff gathered at County Hall this morning (Tuesday) in a protest over proposed changes to their car allowance scheme.

The changes are set to be implemented by the Isle of Wight Council imminently and some workers have threatened to stop using their cars altogether. About 60 people marched from children’s services to County Hall, where they were joined by Mark Chiverton, Unison branch secretary. (more…)
