COASTAL EROSION ON THE ISLE OF WIGHT – SIT BACK AND RELAX

This animation has been produced by the Isle of Wigh tCentre for the Coastal Environment, which the department within the Isle of Wight Council managing coastal and environmental issues.

This animation shows some of the problems caused by coastal erosion on the South West coast of the Isle of Wight. These problems can include rockfalls, landslides and the loss of land, properties and roads. It is based on historic Ordnance Survey plans, which show the rates of erosion along this part of the Isle of Wight coast can be up to 1 metre/year.

So what do you think the Isle of Wight council are doing about it? At this rate the Isle of Wight won’t have any AONB sites left because we will have to build houses on them and move away from the flooding areas around our coasts and the river Medina

We need informed independents, not idiots reading from a pre-determined script so they can sing in unison. Expose them and the damage they’ve done to our school system and our eco island image (the one thing that could resurrect the Island economy long term).

Get them out and watch how this island progresses/regenerates
